film

play

another film proposal. a short film about when pasta being illegal and smuggled in baggies inside the stomachs or up the bums of pasta 'mules'. inspiration came from individually weighing and bagging up single portions of pasta the other day. what if the bags exploded inside the mules? the person might die from dehydration as the pasta expands. might be more fitting to use rice instead, but i like the Italian twist the film could have.

again, anyone interested in making this please contact me.

A project based on bahaviour which arises from restlessness and distraction. Ever played your pencils like drum-sticks whilst trying to work? Why shouldn't guilty pleasures like this be encouraged?

Pendant Light

play

The concept of lighting design arises from wanting to display light. This idea mixes traditional ideas of display (as a means of demonstrating wealth, as with the central stem of the chandelier) and modern ideas of display (of packaging and selling a product, with the use of shop store arms to store the light). At a functional level the lights, like shop-store packaging, can be slid up and down the arms to disperse light accordingly.

Newton's Breakfast

play

Newton's Breakfast is an interesting way to store and display eggs by combining two familiar objects. The intention here was, to design the experience of interacting with the object, to create a paused moment in time like a glass tipping on the edge of a table. Despite being static, the object holds a narrative of potential consequence, drawn from our knowledge of eggs and Newton's cradles. Just by simply being observed, the cradle creates excitement through the low-level anxiety produced from the anticipation of the event that the object hints towards.

head over heels

play

Turning a familiar object on its head causes us to question the nature of it. Here the light emanates from below whilst the wire, passing electricity into it from above, mimics the wick, the candle burning that which holds it and gives it life.

not usually treasured

play

buttons that have been found on the street are carefully catalogued and displayed in a manner, which is indicative of my obsessive passion for collecting. the process of cataloging, labelling, and displaying makes us question how value is created in museums and galleries through the use of display tools.
